Live updates: Auburn football goes to Texas A&M for first SEC game of 2023 season

Welcome to SEC play.

Auburn is on the road Saturday at Kyle Field against Texas A&M. Ainslie and I are on-site in a very high up press box for Auburn’s first SEC game of the 2023 season.

And Auburn is coming in about as healthy as it could ask for all things considered. Follow along below for updates from College Station.

Pregame

Auburn had a number of players on its roster listed as “hopeful” coming into this game, other than long-term injuries to cornerback Keionte Scott and linebacker Austin Keys.

Otherwise? Auburn is pretty healthy as it warms up.

1st quarter

– Football time. Auburn will kickoff to Texas A&M. Donovan Kaufman and Nehemiah Pritchett both trot out on the field as starters.

– Kaufman quickly goes down with what looks like an ankle injury. Comes off on his own power. He is being worked on at the medical table. That kind of year so far.

– A missed D.J. James tackle continues a drive where Auburn hasn’t been able to get off the field. Auburn has already allowed two third-down conversions on this possession and now a 26-yard gain to Reuben Owens.

– Auburn does hold A&M to just a field goal after Caleb Wooden gets a sack on 3rd-and-10. That forced a 51-yard field goal which the Aggies made. Wooden has been thrown into a bigger role because of an injury to Keionte Scott and that was a good moment in a big game. Donovan Kaufman did return to the field on the field goal block unit.

3-0 Texas A&M. 9:23 remaining in the first quarter.
