Live updates as UAB welcomes in Louisiana for inaugural Smile-A-Mile game
Welcome to Protective Stadium in Birmingham, where UAB looks to get back in the win column against Louisiana. The Blazers are a 2.5-point favorite for the 6 p.m. CT kickoff in the game that will air on ESPN+.
The Blazers are coming off their first loss of the season, a 49-35 setback at Georgia Southern, but have one of the most potent offenses in the nation with quarterback Jacob Zeno at the helm. The redshirt junior leads the nation in completions per game (35.5) and second in completion percentage (84.5 percent).
First Quarter
— Louisiana starting quarterback Ben Wooldridge takes a hard hit and is slowly helped to the sideline. The Ragin’ Cajuns turn to Zeon Chriss to run the offense.
— UAB will receive the opening kickoff.
Pregame notes
— There are numerous thunderstorms in the area and rain could be present at some point in the game, if not delayed for a lighting strike within eight miles of the stadium.
— Louisiana will be without running back Dre’lyn Washington, wide receiver Robert Williams and starting right tackle George Jackson.
— All UAB players are dressed out and accounted for, including senior safety Damon Miller, who has missed the last two weeks.
