Live updates as UAB takes on No. 1 Georgia in Athens

Welcome to Sanford Stadium, where UAB faces off against the No. 1 team in the nation for the first time in program history. The Blazers are a heavy 41.5-point underdog to Georgia for the 6:30 p.m. CT kickoff in the game that will air on ESPN2.

The Blazers are coming off their second loss of the season and are seeking answers on both sides of the ball after dropping a 41-21 decision to Louisiana last week. UAB is tied with Georgia for the 14th-ranked passing offense in the nation (318.7 ypg) and quarterback Jacob Zeno ranks second in completions per game (32.7) and third in completion rate (80.4 percent).

First Quarter

— Both Zeno and Beck take sacks on third down to end back-to-back possessions. UAB gains a first down on its next drive but goes nowhere afterward, punting back to the Bulldogs a little more than halfway through the opening frame.

— The Bulldogs march swiftly down the field as Carson Beck connects with Dominic Lovett for a 33-yard gain and Arian Smith caps the drive with a 12-yard touchdown run to make it Georgia 7, UAB 0 with 12:04 left in the first quarter. The Bulldogs faced a 3rd-and-13 at the 26-yard line but defensive pass interference was called on Keondre Swoopes in the end zone and Smith scored on the next play.

— Georgia will receive the opening kickoff.

Pregame Notes

— There are no injury designations for UAB heading into the game. Charlie Goode, who suffered a non-contact season-ending injury during practice, is the only player from the original two-deep to be out this season.
