Live updates as Auburn football takes on Vanderbilt in Nashville

Hugh Freeze and Auburn’s football team arrived to the construction site that is Vanderbilt’s FirstBank Stadium Saturday afternoon as they look to break open the Tigers’ series stalemate with the Commodores. The series between Auburn and Vanderbilt sits at 12-12-1 ahead of Saturday’s kickoff.

And despite Vanderbilt’s struggles, Freeze doesn’t expect a win to come easy on Saturday.

“This is a scary game to me,” Freeze said. “I’ve always thought playing there is difficult, for whatever reason.”

As FirstBank Stadium undergoes a facelift — leaving it without seating behind either end zone and a scoreboard suspended between two cranes — it holds less than 30,000 fans.

Fortunately for Auburn, many of those fans in attendance on Saturday were sporting orange and blue and cheering for the visiting Tigers.

But Freeze knows it’ll still be critical that Auburn see some things go their way early.

“If you go up there and you don’t get some momentum going your way…,” Freeze began. “I’ve been there with a really good Ole Miss team, now, and it was tough.”

Pregame | Auburn OL Avery Jones to miss second game

After suffering a leg injury against Ole Miss on Oct. 21, it appears Auburn offensive lineman Avery Jones will miss his second game in a row.

In each of Auburn’s games prior to his injury, Jones served as the Tigers’ starting center. In his absence, true freshman Connor Lew has been the one to step up at the center spot. Lew is set to notch the second start of his career Saturday afternoon vs. Vanderbilt.
