Live updates: Alabama softball vs. Duke WCWS score, lineups and more
It’s do or die time again for Alabama softball. The Crimson Tide is set to face Duke in its second game of the Women’s College World Series, with elimination on the line.
UA is facing the end of its 2024 season after losing 4-1 to UCLA on Thursday. The Blue Devils fell to Oklahoma, setting them up for the elimination game Friday in Oklahoma City.
Alabama and Duke are scheduled to begin play at 6 p.m. CT. The winner will continue playing on Sunday.

1st inning
— Kenleigh Cahalan gets on base from the second spot in the lineup, advances to second on an error, then to third on a groundout.
— Marlie Giles doubles to right field to score Cahalan from third. Alabama leads 1-0 early, with two outs.
— Bailey Dowling pops out to end the half-inning.
— One on, no runs for Duke in the first.
2nd inning
— No runs for the Tide.
— Duke ties the game at one on a solo home run from Ana Gold.
— Blue Devils get two more runners on, but can’t do any more damage. Score is 1-1 after two.
3rd inning
— Kali Heivilin nearly hits a home run for the Tide, but Duke’s Amiah Burgess makes a catch at the wall for the first out. No runs for Alabama in the third.
— After a runner was initially called safe at second, Duke is called out after replay. No runs for the Blue Devils.
4th inning
— Three up, three down for the Crimson Tide.
— Kayla Beaver in to pitch for Alabama. Five hits including the home run, and two strikeouts in 3.1 innings for Jocelyn Briski.
— No runs. Score still 1-1 through four innings.
5th inning
— Heivilin hits a triple that nearly flies over the fence. Alabama threatening to break the tie with two outs.
— Kristen White walks to put runners on the corners.
— Cahalan flies out to end the half-inning with no runs for UA.
— Nobody on for the Blue Devils.
6th inning
— Giles finally breaks the tie for Alabama, with a solo home run to right center. Crimson Tide leads 2-1, with one out.
