Live updates: Alabama football opens 2023 season against Middle Tennessee State

Season 17 is about to begin for Alabama football under Nick Saban.

The Crimson Tide is back in Bryant-Denny Stadium for its 2023 opener, welcoming Middle Tennessee State as its first step in returning to the College Football Playoff. MTSU has six wins over Power 5 foes under head coach Rick Stockstill, the last one coming against Miami a year ago.

Alabama is also looking for some clarification in its quarterback battle. It’ll be Jalen Milroe starting and Notre Dame transfer Tyler Buchner as his primary backup, according to multiple reports. The competition doesn’t look over by any means, as showcased on the Tide’s depth chart.
