Live updates: Alabama and Kentucky open SEC tournament with elimination game

Will the run continue? Can Alabama baseball host an NCAA regional round? The Crimson Tide will find out this week with its performance in Hoover Metropolitan Stadium.

The Tide begins its Southeastern Conference tournament run following a chaotic regular season. It went 38-17 while weathering a gambling scandal that led to former coach Brad Bohannon’s firing. His replacement, pitching coach Jason Jackson, went 8-2 in the regular season to earn the program’s highest SEC tournament seed in seven years.

The No. 9 Crimson Tide will play eight-seed Kentucky (33-26) in a single-elimination matchup. The winner will play one-seed Florida at 4:30 p.m. CST on Wednesday at the start of the double-elimination portion of the bracket. The Wildcats won two of three in Tuscaloosa in March in three close games.

First pitch is scheduled for 4:30 p.m. and will air on SEC Network. Yet, a rain delay in the Tennessee-Texas A&M contest is likely to push back the Tide’s start. Follow along for updates.
