Lisa Marie Presley in hospital after cardiac arrest, ex-husband performed CPR
Lisa Marie Presley is in the hospital after suffering a cardiac arrest Thursday at her Calabasas, Cali. home., according to TMZ.
Paramedics performed CPR on Presley at her home and were able to regain a pulse before moving her to the hospital, the Associated Press reports.
Presley is the only child of legendary rock singer Elvis Presley, who died of heart disease at age 42 in 1977. Elvis is known for hits like “Heartbreak Hotel,” “Don’t Be Cruel” “Suspicious Minds” among many others.
Lisa Marie Presley, age 54, and mom Priscilla Presley attended the Golden Globe Awards on Tuesday when Austin Butler won best actor in a film drama for his lead role in 2022 biopic “Elvis.”
TMZ reports that Lisa Marie was found unresponsive in her bedroom by her housekeeper. Lisa’s ex-husband, musician Danny Keough, performed CPR until paramedics arrived.
Priscilla Presley, 77, has released a statement to People.
“My beloved daughter Lisa Marie was rushed to the hospital. She is now receiving the best care. Please keep her and our family in your prayers,” Priscilla Presley said.
In 2003, Lisa Marie was in her mid-30s when released her own debut album as a singer/songwriter, “To Whom It May Concern.” The album achieved gold sales status and featured the hit “Lights Out.”
Lisa Marie’s personal life has also made headlines. In addition to Keough, who was a member of her band, she’s been married to pop superstar Michael Jackson, actor Nicolas Cage and music producer Michael Lockwood.
On her 25th birthday in 1993, she inherited Elvis Presley’s estate, believed to have been worth around $100 million at that time. In 2005, she sold the estate except for Graceland, the Elvis museum/tourist attraction housed in the singer’s former home.
Lisa Marie has had four children, including musician/actor Riley Keough. In 2020, son Benjamin Keough died by suicide from a self-inflicted shotgun wound. Lisa Marie also has two young daughters, Finley and Harper Lockwood.
In August 2022, Lisa Marie Presley wrote an essay published in People magazine, about her son in honor of National Grief Awareness Day.
In her essay she wrote, “Finding others who have experienced a similar loss can be the only way to go. Support groups that have your specific kind of loss in common. I go to them, and I hold them for other bereaved parents at my home. Nothing, absolutely NOTHING takes away the pain, but finding support can sometimes help you feel a little bit less alone.”
