Liquidation sales now underway at popular discount stores

Bankrupt discount chain Tuesday Morning is closing nearly half its stores with liquidation sales now underway.

The Texas-based companied filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy last month and announced it would shutter stores in “low-traffic regions” as part of its reorganization. According to its bankruptcy filings, it plans to close 264 of its 464 locations as it operates in 39 states. Post-bankrcuptcy, the chain will operate about 200 stores, down from 500 at this time last year.

Liquidation sales are currently going on at 10 Tuesday Morning locations that are slated for closure. Merchandise, as well as fixtures and other equipment, are on sale. Alabama stores with liquidation sales include Montclair Road in Birmingham, Montgomery Highway South in Hoover, Sixth Avenue Southeast in Decatur, Ross Clark Circle in Dothan, University Drive NW in Huntsville, McFarland Blvd. in Northport, Gulf Shores Parkway in Gulf Shores, Dauphin Street in Mobile, U.S. Highway 280 in Birmingham and Bailey Cove Road SE in Huntsville.

Six Tuesday Morning stores in Alabama will remain open: Eastern Shore Plaza in Spanish Fort, Florence Square in Florence, Plantation Pointe in Fairhope, Village Shoppes of Madison in Madison, Carriage Towne Shopping Center in Mobile and Riviera Square in Foley.
