Lindsay Shiver, charged in plot to kill ex-Auburn football player in Bahamas, visits Alabama for Christmas

The former beauty queen accused of plotting to kill her ex-Auburn football player husband in the Bahamas can be home for the holidays if she travels with an ankle monitor, the judge overseeing Lindsay Shiver’s case ruled.

Shiver, a 36-year-old mother of three and former Miss Houston County from Dothan, has been free on $100,000 bond since August.

She is accused of being involved in a murder-for-hire plot against her estranged husband, former Auburn long snapper Robert Shiver. The couple reportedly met at the university.

Lindsay Shiver’s attorney asked the Bahamian judge presiding over the case to allow her to travel home to Alabama for the holidays.

The judge agreed, provided Lindsay Shiver wear an ankle monitor while she is in the United States, Court TV reported Thursday.

Lindsay Shiver plans to be with family in Alabama for the holidays and will not be allowed to travel to Georgia, where she and Robert Shiver live, except to attend court proceedings related to her divorce or custody cases, the outlet reported.

She allegedly hatched the plot to kill Robert Shiver with her reported boyfriend, Terrance Bethel, 28, and his friend, 29-year-old Faron Newbold.

Authorities contend Lindsay Shiver texted a picture of her husband to Newbold via the WhatsApp chat with the words, “Kill him.”

The court granted bond to Linsday Shiver after Robert Shiver told prosecutors he didn’t object.

Bethel and Newbold were released on $20,000 bond last week, also with electronic monitoring.

Bethel told the Daily Mail that everything has been blown out of portion.

“Everybody says things out of frustration,” Bethel told the Daily Mail about incriminating messages cops found on his phone. “None of us have anything to hide. People are taking everything at face value and defaming us.”

The alleged murder plot was uncovered when authorities were investigating a break-in at a bar in Guana Cay. Messages discovered on social media app WhatsApp led to the criminal charges against the trio.

Robert Shiver and Lindsay Shiver married on March 6, 2010, and since have had three sons, all under the age of 12.

Georgia Superior Court records obtained by AL.com show that Robert Shiver filed for divorce from Lindsay Shirley Shiver on April 5, contending he was entitled to a divorce “based upon her adulterous conduct.”

Lindsay Shiver then filed for divorce on April 6, contending the marriage was “irretrievably broken with no hope whatsoever for a reconciliation.”

She claimed her husband was abusive and that she felt unsafe in the marital home and had installed locks on the interior doors of the home for protection.

“Husband has abused the wife in the home in the children’s presence on multiple occasions, not only physically but also mentally and emotionally.

Both are seeking primary custody of the three boys as well as their, $2 million, 7,000-square-feet-plus home in Thomasville, Ga.

Lindsay Shiver in her filing said the couple has incurred debts which are “far beyond her means to pay.”

Robert Shiver, in his complaint, said Lindsay Shiver is “able-bodied” with a 2009 marketing degree from Auburn and should not be entitled to alimony.

Robert Shiver is now dating reality star Savannah Chrisley, known for the USA Network series “Chrisley Knows Best.”
