Limit sewage, telework instead, Redstone Arsenal officials urge
Officials at Redstone Arsenal are urging telework as a sewage line break has expanded and now impacts most of the North Alabama military installation.
In a message on social media, officials said “leaders should consider maximizing telework,” adding “every effort must be taken to limit adding additional sewage into the system.’
“If not, sewage could eventually start backing up into some of the buildings,” the notice said.
The line break was first reported yesterday near Martin and Mills roads. Mills Road Child Development Center, Redstone Federal Credit Union on Mills Road, AAFES Express gas station and restaurants at the Martin/Mills intersection are all closed. The Goss Road Child Development Center is not affected and is open today.
Redstone Arsenal has more than 50,000 employees and contractors and roughly 1,000 uniformed military personnel.
