Limestone County man charged with attempted murder, kidnapping dies

A Limestone County man who had just been taken into custody after he failed to reappear at his trial Tuesday morning died in custody today while being transported back to the jail.

The Limestone County Sheriff’s Office said Ronnie Tyler Gwynn Parker, 30, died at Decatur Morgan Hospital.

On Tuesday, authorities said Parker failed to reappear for trial Tuesday morning on multiple counts of attempted murder, kidnapping, arson, and a number of other charges. He was taken into custody this morning in Lawrence County.

According to the sheriff’s office, Parker began having what appeared to be a medical episode while in transit back to Limestone County.

Transporting officers immediately stopped the vehicle and a medic began resuscitation efforts. EMS was immediately notified.

Parker was transported by ambulance to Decatur Morgan Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The Madison County Sheriff’s Office has agreed to perform the death investigation.

Parker was accused of firing shots at multiple deputies, taking women hostage and setting a home on fire on Oct. 21, 2018.
