Legendary rock star coming to Alabama: ‘One of the finest voices of his generation’
Rod Stewart fans, rejoice. The legendary rocker has announced some new dates for his “One Last Time” tour, including a show at the Coca-Cola Amphitheater in Birmingham.
Stewart — who hasn’t officially declared this a farewell tour, by the way — is set to perform at the new $46 million amphitheater on Aug. 2, 2025, with opening act Cheap Trick. Tickets for the 7:30 p.m. concert go on sale Friday, Nov. 22, at 10 a.m. CT via Live Nation/Ticketmaster. Prices for the Birmingham date are $59.50, $79.50, $99.50, $129.50 and $175, plus service charges, according to promoter Live Nation.
Pre-sales start on Tuesday, Nov. 19, at 10 a.m. CT and run through Thursday, Nov. 21, at 10 p.m. CT, according to the Ticketmaster listing.
Stewart, 79, a sandpaper-voiced rock star with a slew of classic hits, hasn’t been a frequent visitor to Birmingham in recent years. However, he has performed here in the past, including 2007 and 2004 shows at the Legacy Arena at the BJCC. Stewart also played a 2001 date at Oak Mountain Amphitheatre in Pelham.
His “One Last Time” tour is touted as a greatest-hits showcase for Stewart, whose career dates back to the 1960s. He famously fronted the rock band Faces before launching a solo career, and has a long list of studio albums to his credit. Stewart’s signature songs include “Maggie May,” “You Wear It Well,” “Every Picture Tells A Story,” “Do Ya Think I’m Sexy,” “The First Cut is the Deepest,” “Tonight’s the Night,” Infatuation,” “Forever Young” and more.
Stewart was inducted twice into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, as a solo artist and a member of Faces. “There is no mistaking the warm, grizzly rasp of Rod Stewart’s voice,” the Rock Hall website says. “Irresistibly charming and undeniably talented, Rod Stewart has dabbled in hard rock, lightweight pop, schmaltzy ballads and definitive covers. Whatever material he chooses to perform, he delivers it with one of the finest voices of his generation.”
Stewart’s concert at the Coca-Cola Amphitheater is the third show announced for the outdoor concert venue in Birmingham, which is set to open in June 2025. Live Nation made its first concert announcement for the amphitheater in October, confirming a show by Teddy Swims on Aug. 15, 2025. Country star Thomas Rhett also has a concert on tap for the amphitheater, set for June 27, 2025.

The Coca-Cola Amphitheater, a 9,380-seat venue, is owned by the Birmingham Jefferson Convention Complex and managed by Live Nation. The venue has been under construction since June 2024; see updated photos of site below.
The new amphitheater — formerly known as the Carraway Amphitheater and the Star Amphitheater — promises to significantly boost the profile of Birmingham’s Uptown entertainment area. The venue is expected to host around 20 shows during the summer season and inspire concertgoers to visit restaurants, hotels and other businesses in the area. Also, the amphitheater will accommodate a variety of festivals, community gatherings, special events and more.
