Legendary professional wrestler dead at 60

Terry Brunk, the professional wrestler known to fans as Sabu, has died at age 60, according to reports.

The nephew of WWE Hall of Famer The Sheik, Sabu in 2006 signed with WWE as part of WWE’s revival of the ECW brand and left WWE soon after in 2007, according to WWE.

“From barbed wire battles to unforgettable high-risk moments, Sabu gave everything to professional wrestling. Our thoughts are with his family, his friends and his fans,” AEW posted on social media.

“The news comes just weeks after Sabu competed in a retirement match during WrestleMania weekend in Las Vegas against Joey Janela at Joey Janela’s Spring Break 9,” ESPN reported.

The New York Post wrote that Sabu was “a high flyer who became famous for his work in hardcore matches featuring tables, ladders, chairs, barbed wire and more, Sabu became known as ‘the suicidal, homicidal, genocidal, death–defying maniac.’”

A cause of death has not been reported.
