Legendary country star to bring ‘More Life’ tour to Alabama this fall
An iconic country singer who has been a forerunner in using artificial intelligence to recall his glory days has announced a 2025 tour that will bring him to Alabama.
Newly announced dates for Randy Travis’ “More Life” tour begin March 20 and continue into November. On Sept. 27 he’s booked to perform at the Dothan Civic Center. General public ticket sales start at 10 a.m. Friday, March 7; prices were not immediately available.
Travis had a run of chart-topping success in the late ‘80s and early ‘90s but a 2013 stroke impacted his mobility and his voice, apparently ending his career as a performer. But in 2019 he resumed limited touring. The 2025 “More Life” tour follows the format he’s used since then: Travis doesn’t sing but appears on stage to interact with the band and fans throughout the show. James Dupré handles the vocals with Travis’ original touring band providing the music.

According to promotional materials, the 2025 shows will feature “all of his iconic hits, including ‘On the Other Hand,’ ‘Forever and Ever, Amen,’ and ‘Three Wooden Crosses.’”
In early 2024 Travis released the single “Where That Came From,” a recording that used artificial intelligence to make a Dupré vocal sound like Travis sang it. Earlier this year Travis released “Horses in Heaven,” another new song made with the same approach.
The title of the tour comes from a 2012 single sung from the point of view of a dying man who wishes he had more time. A tour announcement quoted Travis as saying that the tour is “a gift.”
“The ‘More Life Tour’ celebrates something so much more than a musical moment in time — it’s a gift to me to spend time with my fans, and my band, as James Dupré perfectly presents the songs that best define my career,” Travis said in the announcement. “We look forward to seeing you all somewhere along the way.”
