Legendary alt rock band sues lead singer for $10 million after onstage brawl derails tour, album
Jane’s Addiction members Dave Navarro, Eric Avery and Stephen Perkins filed a lawsuit Wednesday against lead singer Perry Farrell, following an onstage altercation in September 2024 that they claim derailed both their North American tour and a planned album.
The band members are seeking at least $10 million from Farrell, claiming in the lawsuit that the group lost that amount due to the tour’s cancellation and the suspension of all band activities.
Guitarist Navarro is also suing Farrell for assault and battery after the altercation last fall, when Farrell appeared to throw a punch at Navarro during a concert in Boston. Farrell was then restrained by crew members and escorted off stage.
Following the onstage incident, the band canceled the remaining dates of their reunion tour.
At the time, Navarro issued a statement on behalf of himself, Avery and Perkins, writing: “Due to a continuing pattern of behavior and the mental health difficulties of our singer Perry Farrell, we have come to the conclusion that we have no choice but to discontinue the current US tour. Our concern for his personal health and safety as well as our own has left us no alternative. We hope that he will find the help he needs.”
Farrell later apologized to his bandmates and fans, saying in a statement, “This weekend has been incredibly difficult and after having the time and space to reflect, it is only right that I apologize to my bandmates, especially Dave Navarro, fans, family and friends for my actions during Friday’s show. Unfortunately, my breaking point resulted in inexcusable behavior, and I take full accountability for how I chose to handle the situation.”
