Latest SEC championship game winner odds: Which teams are worth betting on?

Surprisingly, new head coach Mike Elko has led Texas A&M football to an undefeated SEC record and the top spot in the conference standings. In second place is a Georgia team that could be peaking at the right time after an important road victory over Texas.

Then, there’s a three-way tie for third place between Texas, Tennessee and LSU. Since divisions have been removed in the SEC, expect chaos as the final weeks of the regular season unfold.

Check below for the latest SEC championship odds, plus two teams to consider if you’re looking to bet on the conference title winner.

SEC championship game winner odds

*Odds via BetMGM (as of Nov. 1):

  • Georgia: +200
  • Texas: +200
  • Texas A&M: +400
  • LSU: +700
  • Tennessee: +900

After those teams, there’s a steep drop off to Alabama (+3000), Ole Miss (+3500) and Missouri (+15000). With the true contenders whittled down to five, here are the two teams I recommend for an SEC championship futures bet:

Georgia SEC championship game winner odds (+200)

Georgia’s SEC championship odds showcase the importance of shopping multiple sportsbooks for the best odds. If you only have an account with Fanatics or FanDuel, you’re stuck with +160 or +165 odds. Meanwhile, BetMGM and DraftKings offer +200 odds.

It’s been a strange year for the Bulldogs, who started strong with a 34-3 thumping of Clemson in Week 1. Since then, the Tigers are undefeated and ranked No. 11 in The Associated Press college football poll.

UGA was nearly upset by Kentucky before losing to Alabama the following week. Right when doubt started creeping in, Georgia had a vintage performance.

The Bulldogs forced four turnovers and seven sacks in an impressive 30-15 road victory versus former No. 1 Texas.

DL Mykel Williams has been battling an ankle injury all season, and head coach Kirby Smart said he still wasn’t at full health against the Longhorns. Williams still managed two sacks, two tackles for loss and a forced fumble.

Considering UGA’s frustrations on offense, Williams continuing to dominate would be a game-changer for the Dawgs.

QB Carson Beck has the second-most passing touchdowns in the SEC but also ranks second in interceptions. Georgia has struggled to run the ball, though RB Trevor Etienne had his best game versus Texas.

If UGA’s rushing attack can show steady improvement, the Bulldogs will be in a great spot to bring the SEC championship back to Athens.

Tennessee SEC championship game winner odds (+900)

The main reason I’m highlighting Tennesee’s SEC championship odds is because of the value. A $10 bet at +900 odds has a $90 payout.

The Volunteers already have taken down Oklahoma, Florida and Alabama. Their only loss came on the road versus Arkansas. The Razorbacks may not be in SEC championship contention, but they had impressive performances against Auburn, Texas A&M and Mississippi State.

Tennessee’s biggest red flag is a matchup with Georgia in two weeks. The Bulldogs have beaten the Volunteers in seven straight seasons, and UGA gets home-field advantage.

If Tennessee can avoid a second loss and take down Georgia, the Volunteers’ odds undoubtedly will skyrocket, making a +900 futures bet very valuable.

The Vols have a championship-caliber defense that allows the second-fewest points in FBS. Tennessee is excellent against the run and pass, making it tough for opposing offenses because there’s no weakness to attack.

Dylan Sampson is one of the best RBs in the nation and ranks third with 17 rushing touchdowns. If QB Nico Iamaleava’s passing upgrades, Tennessee could beat Georgia en route to its first SEC championship since 1998.

Tennessee has high-level pass-catchers like Dont’e Thornton Jr. and Bru McCoy. However, accuracy has been an issue for Iamaleava, and he seems to miss a few deep shots every week that are potential game-changing plays.

Iamaleava is a redshirt freshman with room to develop, and the sky is the limit for the Volunteers if that growth comes in the near future.
