Latest Kadyn Proctor injury update before Alabama football vs. USF

Kalen DeBoer gave the latest Kadyn Proctor injury update on Wednesday while speaking on the SEC coaches teleconference.

DeBoer was asked whether Proctor will be able to play for Alabama football vs. South Florida on Saturday (6 p.m., ESPN) at Bryant-Denny Stadium.

“He’s working toward it,” DeBoer said. “We’ll have to see right toward the end of the week. If it were up to him, he’d probably be out there. But we’ve got to be smart, and that means in these days earlier in the week, we’ve got to be smart and careful. He’s doing really well. He’s pretty much living in the training room. He’s got strong aspirations to get on the field as fast as possible. I can’t say one way or the other where that would be as of right now with still three days left before we play.”

Proctor sustained a shoulder injury during warmups before the season opener. He took part in the initial portion of warmups, then he went to the locker room with members of the training staff before warmups ended.

Elijah Pritchett replaced Proctor at left tackle against Western Kentucky. Pritchett gave up a sack and three pressures overall, per Pro Football Focus’ charting. Only two other players on the offensive line gave up a pressure the entire game.

Pritchett worked at left tackle in the spring before Proctor returned. During preseason camp, Pritchett primarily worked at right tackle.
