Late star’s parents die weeks apart, nearly 12 years after his tragic death

The late Cory Monteith’s mother died this month, only weeks after her former spouse, the TV star’s father.

Ann Marie McGregor, 74, died “peacefully” on June 18. She lived in Shirley, British Columbia in Canada, according to her obituary.

“Ann enjoyed her time gardening, along with her artistic pursuits,” the obituary reads. “Ann was a person of strong character and she carried that throughout her life.”

Her former husband, Joseph Allan Monteith, died May 12 at the age of 75.

“His love and positive outlook on life will be missed by all of us,” his obituary stated.

The couple divorced in 1989. They have one surviving son, Shaun Monteith.

Both parents’ obituaries mentioned their son Cory, the star of TV’s “Glee.” The couple died only weeks before the 12th anniversary of their son’s death.

Cory Monteith died on July 13, 2013 of mixed drug toxicity, involving intravenous heroin use and ingestion of alcohol.

Monteith was found dead in a hotel room in Vancouver. The actor’s death was ruled accidental.

His cast members later paid tribute to him in “The Quarterback,” a Glee episode in October of that year, remembering Monteith and his character Finn Hudson.

“Love is how you live…even after you are gone,” McGregor’s obituary read.
