Late interception helps Class 6A No. 1 Saraland survive at St. Paul’s

St. Paul’s had the ball with 1:13 remaining and trailing Saraland by only five points. That’s as much as a team can ask for when facing the Saraland Spartans, who have reached the last two Class 6A state championship games and are currently ranked No. 1 in the state.

But the upset bid was spoiled when Saraland senior Arterus Moffett intercepted a pass on the sideline in the last minute to help the Spartans to a 19-14 win. The victory was the 45th in the last 48 games for Saraland, including 34 of the last 35 regular-season games.
