Lane Kiffin trolls LSU’s Brian Kelly, Florida State ‘poop’ fan
Lane Kiffin is in mid-season form, even if LSU and Florida State aren’t.
The Ole Miss coach was on his “X” game Tuesday, trolling Brian Kelly after the Tigers lost to USC on Sunday and one unfortunate Florida State fan who has gone into hiding.
We start with the ageless and never-ending battle over a Coke bottle.
Kiffin had a message for Kelly, two days after Kelly’s Tigers allowed Woody Marks to score on a 13-yard run with 8 seconds left to give No. 23 Southern California a 27-20 win over No. 13 LSU on Sunday night.
The loss gave Kelly, who slammed his hand against the post-game press conference table – an 0-3 mark in season-opening games at LSU.
“Maybe you just need a Coke Zero and a smile,” Kiffin posted at Kelly.
It’s just the latest in the back and forth between the two coaches.
Last month, Kelly opened a press conference by thanking Coca-Cola as a sponsor and the products the company has to offer.
“Just a shout-out to our sponsor, Coke,” Kelly said. “Smartwater, great Coke product. Minerals, vitamins.
“It’s just great for you. It’s refreshing. Healthy, and Coke provides you all the products that you need, depending on what you like, and I love Smartwater.”
The reference was, of course, to the Ole Miss coach’s press conference when, during a pause in questions, looked at the bottle and asked the assembled media, “Does anyone drink Coke?
“You guys have 130 percent of your sugar for your entire day is in this one bottle.”
The latest is a volley in a rally that sees no immediate end.
Kiffin, however, wasn’t done on Tuesday, helping to make sure an unfortunate Florida State fan gets what is coming to him. The day after Treshaun Ward totaled 138 offensive yards, including a 13-yard touchdown reception, against his former team, and Boston College stunned No. 10 Florida State 28-13 to hand the Seminoles their second straight loss to open the season, people want justice.
First a little context.
After Florida State fell to Georgia Tech in the season-opener in Dublin, one confident FSU fan declared on social media that he would eat dog defecation “out of a Red Solo Cup with a spoon” if the Seminoles lost to Boston College.
As you might imagine our hero has since deleted his social media account, but Kiffin made it a point that this isn’t over.
Which leads us to our third post from the SEC’s favorite social media content provider and proves what’s old is new again. Kiffin wish the Tennessee Volunteers good luck in their season after a 2022 TikTok of Tennessee Smokies fans throwing mustard at a skeleton with Lane Kiffin’s head on it.
In October of 2022, chaos took over at Neyland Stadium as the game between Ole Miss and Tennessee was stopped for 20 minutes as fans littered the field with trash. Ole Miss survived the barrage of trash and a last-gasp effort from the Vols to secure a 31-26 win in Knoxville.
With under a minute left and Ole Miss leading 31-26, Tennessee faced a fourth and 24 from the Tennessee 36. Hendon Hooker completed a pass to Jacob Warren for 23 yards to the Ole Miss 41. The play was reviewed as it appeared there was a chance Hooker stretched out for the first down. However, after a review, the play stood as called on the field.
Fans began voicing their displeasure, then everything from water bottles to – as SEC Network’s Cole Cubelic reported – vape pens and even a bottle of mustard started flying from the stands, hence the promotion by the Smokies.
And it’s only Week 1.
