Lane Kiffin, recruiting master, plants seed for son Knox, 2028 QB, who reveals top 5 schools

Lane Kiffin knows as well as anyone how recruiting works.

So, he is planting the seed early for his son Knox, taking to Twitter to reveal his middle school-aged son’s top 5. Yes, the Ole Miss Rebels made young Knox’s list, along with Oregon, Florida, Georgia and Texas.

No harm in getting a jump on things.

It appears Knox has his work cut out for him, though. He is not currently listed among the top 50 quarterbacks for the Class of 2028. Yes, believe it or not, there is a list. Check it out, if you so desire at QBHitList.

Lane Kiffin certainly has a knack for getting the recruiting process started early throughout his career.

It started way back in 2010 when – at USC – he offered a scholarship to David Sills, a 13-year-old seventh-grader from Delaware. Sills committed and stayed committed for four years before ending up at West Virginia.

In May 2017, Bruce Feldman reported, via his Facebook page, that Lane Kiffin had offered a seventh-grade prospect, Kaden Martin. He’s the son of former Tennessee quarterback Tee Martin. That didn’t work out for Kiffin as Kaden Martin plays baseball at Miami.

Last month, Trent Seaborn, the eighth-grade quarterback in Alabama, received an offer from Ole Miss, he announced on Twitter Wednesday.

You can’t help but think Lane Kiffin’s tweet is a little tongue in cheek. At the worst, it comes off as some recruiting humor, but it can also be Lane Kiffin testing the waters.

Time will tell.

Stay tuned.
