Lane Kiffin performs ‘80s tunes at daughter’s graduation party

Gone was the visor and clipboard, replaced with a guitar and mic.

Armed with an ‘80 T-shirt, Lane Kiffin came to play.

The Ole Miss head coach celebrated his daughter Landry’s high school graduation by performing during a party.

The Rebels coach told OutKick he performed “Sweet Child O’ Mine” and “Every Rose Has Its Thorn,” while rocking a Poison concert T-shirt given to him by lead singer Bret Michaels.

“Well when Landry asked me to stay at Ole Miss for her, I did. When she asked me to get on stage for her, I did. High school graduation party in the backyard,” Kiffin texted OutKick’s Trey Wallace on Tuesday night.

Kiffin’s daughter is headed to Oxford in the fall.

“I’ve made a lot of decisions in my life based on what served me first, that’s where the major change came. Realizing it’s not about me, it’s about her,” Kiffin told OutKick about his daughter.

In November, speculation swirled after TV reports indicated Kiffin was leaving Ole Miss for Auburn.

In late March, Kiffin said he never questioned his decision to stay at Ole Miss. He may regret the way in which he handled coming about that decision, though.

The Rebels coach was a primary target last season by Auburn to fill the head-coaching position left vacant when the Tigers dismissed Bryan Harsin in October of 2022.

Kiffin said he “struggled” with the negative feedback he received with the way he handled the overture. Still, he had hoped fans would have concentrated on the fact that he stayed in Oxford.

It appears Kiffin’s family life – and happiness – in Oxford is as much a reason he stayed with the Rebels as any football-related one. That’s a good thing for Ole Miss.
