Lane Kiffin jokes he solved Sydney Thomas DM mystery after Nick Saban pic

Lane Kiffin is never one to shy away from a good social media mystery.

The latest centers around Sydney Thomas, the 21-year-old ring girl who gained viral fame during the Jake Paul vs. Mike Tyson fight.

Thomas, an University of Alabama student, revealed recently during a podcast that an SEC football coach sent her a direct message.

“It was from another SEC football team coach. And they just DM’d me, ‘Roll Tide,’” she said, via the Like a Farmer podcast.

“So, I’m not going to say what coach it was, but they’re an Alabama fan, now at least. We’ll let everyone else figure that out for themselves, who it was.”

The comment was the answer to a question about the craziest DM she had ever received.

While speculation online has run rampant, the Ole Miss coach added his humorous 2 cents – and his social media savvy – not long after Thomas posted a picture with former Alabama coach Nick Saban from the golf course.

“We have the answer,” Kiffin’s post read. “RTR.”

Of course, Saban, now an analyst for ESPN’s “GameDay,” isn’t on social media. Saban, it should be noted, doesn’t meet the criteria of Thomas’ initial post.

And some, like former NFL star Antonio Brown, suggested suspicion might fall on Kiffin himself.

Kiffin, who worked for Saban at Alabama from 2014-2016 as the Crimson Tide’s offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach, never lets an opportunity pass where he can have a little fun with his former boss.

Kiffin, for the record, is always on social media. Is Kiffin running a little misdirection?

We’ll keep you posted.
