Lane Kiffin gets another contract extension at Ole Miss
Lane Kiffin has agreed to a contract extension at Ole Miss for the third year in a row, the school announced Tuesday.
No details were provided for Kiffin’s new deal, though Mississippi law allows nothing longer than a 4-year contract for state employees. Ole Miss Spirit of the On3 network is reporting that Kiffin’s new contract runs through the 2028 season.
Kiffin agreed to an extension last November that paid him around $9 million per year.
“Our football program is experiencing unprecedented success under Coach Kiffin, and we could not be more excited about what the future holds under his leadership,” Ole Miss athletics director Keith Carter said. “In just four years, he has established our team as a sustained winner that is on a trajectory to championship status. With our continued investment in the program and the tremendous support of the Grove Collective, the Ole Miss family is committed to providing Coach Kiffin the resources needed to compete at an elite level.”
The 48-year-old Kiffin is 38-15 in four seasons at Ole Miss, including 10-2 this year. The Rebels face Penn State in the Peach Bowl on Dec. 30.
Kiffin — who was Alabama’s offensive coordinator from 2014-16 — was widely rumored to be a candidate for the Auburn opening last year, before ultimately staying in Oxford. His name has not come up in any serious job rumors this time around.
“We’re doing things here that have never been done before, and with the commitment that our leadership and supporters are making, we have the opportunity to build on the foundation that has been established over the last four years,” Kiffin said. “I’m grateful to Chancellor (Glenn) Boyce and Keith for their support, and we look forward to continuing on our path to becoming a championship program.”
