Lance Reddick, star of ‘The Wire’ and ‘John Wick,’ dead at 60
Lance Reddick, known for his role in HBO’s “The Wire,” is dead at the age of 60.
TMZ reports, citing law enforcement sources, that Reddick’s body was discovered at his Studio City home Friday morning.
The actor died of natural causes Friday morning, his rep Mia Hansen said in a statement to USA TODAY Friday.
“Lance will be greatly missed,” Hansen said.
Reddick was in the middle of a press tour for John Wick: Chapter 4, starring Keanu Reeves.
On Wednesday, Reddick posted a selfie with his dogs where he appeared to be at home, but he didn’t give a reason as to why he was missing the New York premiere of the latest John Wick film.
Reddick is best known for his role as Lt. Cedric Daniels on the hit HBO show “The Wire.” Reddick also appeared as Irv Iving on “Bosch” and had roles in Fox’s “Fringe,” “Angel Has Fallen” and “Godzilla vs. Kong.”
“A man of great strength and grace. As talented a musician as he was an actor,” tweeted his “Wire” co-star Wendell Pierce. “The epitome of class. An sudden unexpected sharp painful grief for our artistic family. An unimaginable suffering for his personal family and loved ones.”
The Baltimore-born-and-raised Reddick was a Yale University drama school graduate, The Associated Press reported.
Reddick attended the prestigious Eastman School of Music, where he studied classical composition, and he played piano. His first album, the jazzy “Contemplations and Remembrances,” came out in 2011.
Reddick is survived by his wife, Stephanie Reddick, and children, Yvonne Nicole Reddick and Christopher Reddick.
