Labaron Philon has made final decision on NBA draft, report says

Labaron Philon won’t be returning to the Alabama basketball team for a second season, ESPN’s Jeff Borzello is reporting.

Philon plans to stay in the NBA draft and has already informed Crimson Tide coach Nate Oats of his decision, he told Borzello. The Mobile native averaged 10.6 points and 3.8 assists per game as a freshman this past season.

“I’m all-in on the draft,” Philon said. “They weren’t surprised. They knew it already.”

The NBA draft is set for June 25, though players have until June 15 to formally withdraw and return to college. However, asked by Borzello if the door is closed on a return to the Crimson Tide, Philon replied “yeah.”

The 6-foot-4 Philon is regarded as a late first-round pick for the 2025 draft. Two of three CBS Sports analysts projected him to go No. 28 overall to the Boston Celtics in a mock draft posted Tuesday, though the third had him going unselected in the 30-pick first round.
