Kyren Lacy dead at 24; LSU releases statement: ‘We’re saddened to learn of the tragic passing’
LSU officials released a statement on social media Sunday on the death of former Tigers receiver Kyren Lacy, who was found dead Saturday night.
“We’re saddened to learn of the tragic passing of former LSU Football student-athlete Kyren Lacy,” LSU’s statement read. “Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and loved ones, as well as his former teammates and coaches impacted by his passing.”
Lacy, 24, was facing charges of negligent homicide, felony hit-and-run and reckless operation of a vehicle in connection with a Dec. 17 wreck near Thibodaux, La., that killed a 78-year-old man and injured two others. Grand jury testimony in the case was reportedly set to begin on Monday.
The cause of death is not immediately known.
Lacy caught 58 passes for 866 yards with seven touchdowns last season.
A grand jury was set to hear evidence on the case Monday.
