Kohl’s facing calls for boycott over Pride clothing for infants

Kohl’s is the latest national retailer facing boycott calls over its line of Pride merchandise that includes items for infants.

The hashtag #BOYCOTTKHOLS began popping up online after the retailer unveiled a line of LGBTQ merchandise in honor of Pride Month in June. Items range from adult-sized shirts and pants to home décor in Pride colors.

One of the items was a “Community Pride” bodysuit set for babies from 3 to 24 months that showed a same-sex couple with children carrying a Pride flag. Other children’s shirts have messages like “Belong. Believe. Be Proud,” or “Stronger Together” with rainbow colors.

Social media users began sharing photos of Kohl’s Pride displays online with images of children’s clothing and other items.

“Are these companies trying to file for bankruptcy?,” one commenter said online, adding #BoycottKohls.

“Guess we’ll see Kohl’s lose even more than they already have… Go woke, go broke… another one bites the dust…,” someone else added.

Others questioned the need for another boycott.

“They are going to pretend that posting “go woke, go broke” on social media is going to actually make any company broke,” a commenter said.

Calls for a boycott and protests over the clothes spread online and came just days after Target announced it was pulling some Pride merchandise after growing backlash that led to worker threats. It also comes after Bud Lite has seen sales plummet after its partnership with trans influencer Dylan Mulvaney.
