Koe Wetzel loses voice, postpones Friday concert in Alabama: âNo one is more upset that I amâ
Country-rocker Koe Wetzel has postponed two concerts on his agenda for this weekend, including a show planned for tonight (Friday, May 12) at the Orion Amphitheater in Huntsville.
“I hate to have to do this, but there is just no way I can preform (sic) the rest of this weekend,” Wetzel said Friday afternoon on social media. The singer said he lost his voice on Friday morning, after playing a Thursday show in Nashville, and a doctor recommended he take the weekend off.
Wetzel’s concert at the Orion Amphitheater has been rescheduled for July 22, the Huntsville venue said Friday via Instagram. “All AXS-purchased tickets for the original date will be honored,” the venue said. Those who can’t attend the rescheduled date were referred to an email sent to ticketholders.
Wetzel also postponed a show set for Saturday, May 13, at the First Security Amphitheater in Little Rock, Arkansas. The new date there is July 21.
“It kills me to have to do this, but at last night’s show in Nashville I felt my voice going out half way through our set,” Wetzel said Friday afternoon on Instagram and Twitter. “Unfortunately, I woke up this morning not being able to speak at all. Saw the doctor this morning and he recommended taking the weekend off. That being said, tonight’s show in Huntsville, AL and tomorrow night’s show in Little Rock, AR have been rescheduled. We’ll be back in Little Rock on July 21 and Huntsville on July 22. Your tickets will still be valid for the new date. Please check your email for information regarding refunds should you no longer be able to attend. To all the fans who planned on coming out tonight, I sincerely apologize. No one is more upset that I am, but y’all deserve a show better than what I could give this weekend. I apologize again and hope to see everyone soon.”
Wetzel’s tour includes a June 2 date at The Wharf Amphitheater in Orange Beach, but that show wasn’t included in his Friday announcement. The singer-songwriter has three other concerts scheduled in the meantime, on May 18-20 at venues in Maryland, Ohio and Kentucky.
Wetzel, a Texas native, is known for songs such as “Creeps” and “Cabo,” from his 2022 breakthrough album, “Hell Paso.” He has performed in Alabama before, and appeared at Rock the South 2022 in Cullman.
Wetzel’s vocal problems and rescheduled shows come on the heels of Morgan Wallen canceling an April 23 concert in Oxford, Mississippi, just a few minutes before showtime. As fans waited for Wallen to appear that night at Vaught-Hemingway Stadium — and after the opening acts had performed — a message was posted on video screens at the stadium, informing the audience the show was canceled because Wallen had lost his voice.

Wallen apologized to concertgoers via Instagram, saying, “I really thought I’d be able to take the stage and it kills me to deliver this so close to showtime, but my voice is shot and I am unable to sing.”
On Tuesday, May 9, Wallen said he’d have to take a six-week break from touring — and reschedule several concert dates — due to mounting damage to his vocal cords. The country star announced 10 rescheduled dates on Thursday via an Instagram post, including two shows in Atlanta and two in Virginia Beach. New dates for two concerts, in Austin and Philadelphia, are pending.
