Makeup-slathered, platform-booted, pyro-lit rock band Kiss finished their farewell tour on December 2 at Madison Square Garden. The concert occurred more than 22 years after the final show of their previous farewell tour, April 13, 2001 at Australia’s Carra Stadium.

Whether or not Kiss’ encore of “Rock and Roll All Nite” at the Garden is their live swan song – the band teased digital avatars that might tour in their place in the future – their legacy is undeniable. Kiss’ influence extends well beyond their classic songs to their innovative concert production, merchandising and marketing.
