Kirk Herbstreit gives his top 4 for CFP after Alabamaâs win over Georgia
Wasting little time, ESPN’s Kirk Herbstreit shared his updated College Football Playoff Final Four after No. 8 Alabama defeated No. 1 Georgia in the SEC Championship Game.
A crowded College Football Playoff race came to a close on championship Saturday with contenders in every Power Five conference. No. 7 Texas blasted Oklahoma State earlier Saturday in the Big 12 Championship Game before No. 8 Alabama beat Georgia 27-24.
“We wanted chaos,” Herbstreit said. “We got it.”
With Oregon’s loss to Washington on Friday, here is what the “College GameDay” analyst has released:
Michigan, assuming it beats Iowa later Saturday night in the Big Ten Championship Game, Washington and Texas are in the field.

He believes that leaves Florida State and Alabama to fight for No. 4. The Bulldogs are out.
“As we sit here right now, Michigan is going to be No. 1. Washington will be No. 2,” Herbstreit said. “The real question is who will be three and four? As we sit here right now, if Florida State wins, I think Texas goes to 3 and I think the 4 debate is undefeated Florida State out of the ACC vs. the SEC champion with 1 loss, Alabama. I think the committee would probably favor Florida State, but I think it’s a wide open race.
“Hard to imagine to leave Texas and/or the SEC champ out.”
