College GameDay paid tribute to one of its most-beloved “cast” members on Saturday, leaving Kirk Herbstreit overcome with emotion.

Herbstreit’s dog, Ben — a fixture around the GameDay set and on various other broadcasts in recent years — died Thursday after battling cancer. Herbstreit was scheduled to introduce a video essay about the 10-year-old Golden retriever during Saturday’s broadcast, but broke down in tears.
