Kevin Gates to play two shows in Alabama in December
Kevin Gates, recently seen at the 2023 Hangout Music Fest, will return to Alabama for two shows in in December.
Gates will perform in Birmingham’s Legacy Arena at the BJCC on Dec. 1, a Friday, according to Ticketmaster. The next night he’ll take the stage in the Mobile Civic Center Arena, according to the venue.
Following presales, ticket sales will open to the general public at 10 a.m. Friday, June 30, according to Ticketmaster. The ticket vendor specifies a limit of four tickets per household for both shows, warning that “additional orders exceeding the ticket limit may be canceled without notice.”
Ticket prices for the Birmingham show were not immediately available. According to information released Monday by the Mobile Civic Center prices for the Mobile show start at $39.50 plus fees.
The “Only the Generals” tour reflects the title of a 2019 EP, “Only the Generals Gon Understand” and a 2021 mixtape, “Only the Generals, Pt. II.” The latter was recorded in Puerto Rico to celebrate the Louisiana rapper’s family heritage.
Gates has released several Top 10 albums, including 2016′s “Islah,” 2019′s “I’m Him” and 2022′s “Khaza,” along with nearly 20 mixtapes since 2007 and several EPs. His top singles include “Really Really,” “2 Phones” and “Big Gangsta.”
Gates was among the top acts at the 2023 Hangout Music Fest, appearing on the event’s final day. Appearing before an energetic crowd, Gates used part of his time to talk about mental health and cultivating a positive outlook.
“If you need to hear this, I love you, you’re never alone,” he told fans at the event.
