Katie Britt penning âwarm, humbleâ memoir releasing Election Day 2023
From the Wiregrass to Washington, Katie Britt has a story to tell.
Alabama’s first woman elected U.S. senator and the upper chamber’s youngest active female member at 41 years old is writing a memoir, “God Calls Us To Do Hard Things: Lessons from the Alabama Wiregrass,” set for an Election Day 2023 release.
“Through her life story, rising Republican star Sen. Katie Britt shares some candid advice for how to overcome personal challenges, appreciate blessed moments, make our lives more fulfilling, and keep an unshakeable faith in God, family and our country,” Britt’s publisher, Twelve, says on the memoir’s website, where preorders are underway.
The Enterprise native grew up in Alabama public schools, the child of small business owners who worked six to seven days a week to make ends meet. Britt earlier told AL.com her personal story was “evidence that the American Dream is alive.”
Twelve, an imprint of Grand Central Publishing, said Britt “has overcome setbacks, defied expectations and shocked the political establishment,” pointing to her work at her parents store to her time at the University of Alabama to the close call her family had with the 2011 Tuscaloosa tornado outbreak.
The memoir will include “hard-earned lessons and common-sense advice that Britt gained from her experience,” the publisher said, including “being unafraid to fail – while also taking criticism and tough love” and “being a change agent – and not a title holder.”
“God Calls Us To Do Hard Things” was described as “warm, humble and often lighthearted.”
It’s about “how a determined young woman decided to enter the arena and make her mark,” according to Twelve.
“At a moment when politics feel so toxic and broken, Katie Britt proves that there’s still a way to listen to your heart, serve and inspire.”
The book is scheduled to be released on Nov. 7, Election Day.
