Kash Patel picks right wing podcaster for deputy FBI director, Trump says
Newly confirmed FBI director Kash Patel has named Dan Bongino, a right wing podcaster who has served as a New York City police officer and Secret Service agent, to be his deputy director, President Donald Trump announced Sunday night.
In a social media post, Trump called Bongino “a man of incredible love and passion for our Country” who will insure “Law and Order will be brought back to Anerica.”
“Thank you Mr. President, Attorney General Bondi, and Director Patel,” Bongino posted.
After the November election, Trump had eyed Bongino to serve as director of the Secret Service, CNN reported in November.
Bongino “was highly critical of the agency’s leadership as security failures around the alleged attempts on Trump’s life became clear,” that report stated.
The appointment comes days after Patel announced he was moving 1,000 FBI agents from D.C. headquarters out into the field.
That reportedly includes the transfer of 500 workers from Washington, D.C. to the bureau’s Huntsville facility at Redstone Arsenal.
