Kansas’ Bill Self won’t coach vs. Arkansas in NCAA tournament Saturday
Kansas basketball coach Bill Self will miss Saturday’s NCAA tournament second-round game vs. Arkansas in Des Moines, Iowa, as he continues to recover from a heart procedure last week.
Self will miss his fifth straight game since checking into the University of Kansas Health System in Kansas City on the night before the start of the Big 12 championship game. The 60-year-old Self underwent a double heart catheterization and had two stents placed in his arteries, causing him to miss the Big 12 tournament and the Jayhawks’ first-round NCAA tournament game vs. Howard.

With Norm Roberts serving as acting coach, top-seeded and defending national champion Kansas (28-7) beat the Bison 96-68 to advance to the second round. Roberts will again coach the Jayhawks, though Self — who was released from the hospital on Sunday — is said to be with the team in Des Moines and is officially listed as “day-to-day.”
Saturday’s game vs. eighth-seeded Arkansas (21-13) takes place at 4:15 p.m. on CBS.
