Kamala Harris rallies with herself, trolls Trump on ‘SNL’ days before election

Vice President Kamala Harris made an appearance on “Saturday Night Live” with Maya Rudolph, the actress who plays her, in the show’s final episode before the election.

The women met across a Hollywood vanity mirror as Rudolph’s character prepared for her final campaign stop in Pennsylvania.

“Gosh, I just, I wish I could talk to someone who has been in my shoes,” Rudolph said, before turning to face the mirror. “You know, a Black, South Asian woman running for president, preferably from the Bay Area.”

Harris then appeared to cheers from the studio audience, as she and Rudolph faced one another, clad in matching black suit jackets and shirts and pearl necklaces and earrings.

“You and me both, sister,” said Harris.

“I’m just here to remind you, you got this, because you can do something your opponent cannot do, you can open doors,” Harris said, referring to Trump’s campaign stunt riding in a Trump-branded garbage truck, which “SNL” satirized.

Rudolph laughed the familiar Harris laugh.

Looking at herself through the mirror, Harris expressed sheepishness about hearing an impression of her laugh. “Do I really laugh like that?” Rudolph said yes.

“Now Kamala, take my palmala,” said Rudolph, as they held hands across the mirror and look at one another.

Rudolph: “The American people want to stop the chaos.”

Harris: “And end the drama-la.”

Rudolph: “With a cool new stepmom-ala to kick back in our pajamalas and watch a rom-comala.”

Harris: “Like ‘Legally Blonde’-ala”

Rudolph: “And start decorating for Christmas, fa-la-la-la-la”

Harris: “Because what do we always say?” Jointly: “Keep Kamala and carry-on-ala”

Rudolph: “We know each other so well we even finish each other’s…”

Jointly: “…Belief in the promise of America.”

Rudolph brought Harris on stage, and they embraced. Harris asked Rudolph if she was registered in Pennsylvania and then they said, “Live from New York, it’s Saturday night!”

Also appearing earlier in the sketch were Chloe Fineman as CNN anchor Kaitlan Collins, James Austin Johnson as former President Donald Trump, Bowen Yang as Sen. J.D. Vance, Andy Samberg as Doug Emhoff, and Dana Carvey as President Joe Biden.

The Harris appearance marks the latest in U.S. presidential candidates popping in on the popular late night sketch comedy show. Hillary Clinton, Barack Obama, Donald Trump and others have also appeared or hosted in years past.
