Kalen DeBoer gives injury update for Alabama LT Kadyn Proctor

Alabama football head coach Kalen DeBoer said the Crimson Tide “will be able to manage” offensive tackle Kadyn Proctor’s shoulder injury on Monday. DeBoer did not say one way or the other whether Proctor might play in UA’s Saturday matchup against South Florida.

DeBoer described the injury as a “shoulder situation.”

“Probably won’t be something early on here (that) we’ll be rolling with, but as the week goes on, something that we can continue to evaluate,” DeBoer said.

Proctor took the field for pregame warmups in full uniforms Saturday evening. He then left the field with the Crimson Tide’s training staff.

When he returned, Proctor was wearing a sling and street clothes, remaining on the sideline.

“Caught me by surprise,” DeBoer said postgame. “Couldn’t go tonight. We’ll continue to evaluate tomorrow just to see the severity of it. We’ll kind of know more as the week goes on.”

Proctor’s injury forced Elijah Pritchett into starting action. Pritchett had battled with Wilkin Formby for the starting right tackle spot throughout camp.

DeBoer praised Pritchett’s play in relief after the game, which Alabama won 63-0, putting up 600 yards of total offense.

“I’ll watch the film, but obviously, there were a lot of good things that happened out there, and you don’t do that without great offensive line play,” DeBoer said. “I’m excited about the way he responded, getting thrown into that position and really just being steady.”

Alabama faces South Florida on Saturday at Bryant-Denny Stadium. After that, the Crimson Tide travels to Wisconsin, before its first of two bye weeks this season.
