Kalen DeBoer explains decision to put ‘C’ on jerseys for Alabama captains
There was another noticeable change for Alabama football this past Saturday under new coach Kalen DeBoer, albeit a small one.
Just one letter, to be precise.
Captains now are wearing a “C” on their jerseys.
Has he gotten any pushback?
“I haven’t because they probably hadn’t seen it or knew about it until the game,” DeBoer said, smiling. “It still hasn’t happened since.”
Alabama didn’t even name captains under Nick Saban until before the bowl game or playoff. DeBoer already changed that by having the team elect captains before the season. The players voted Jalen Milroe, Malachi Moore, Tyler Booker and Deontae Lawson as captains.
DeBoer explained he has had captains wear the “C” on their jerseys other places he’s been too.
“It’s an honor to be a captain,” DeBoer said. “Along with that, I always like to have it understood through the ‘C’ on the jersey, which I think is really cool to be able to wear.”
