Juvenile in custody in connection with Decatur school threats
Decatur police have detained a juvenile in connection with a series of school threats which impacted classes at the city’s middle and high schools.
According to police, about 9 a.m. investigators learned of a threat made against the high school.
Both schools were temporarily placed on heightened alert, while detectives conducted a threat assessment. Students were also dismissed early.
According to police, a male juvenile, whose name was not released, was identified as the suspect and taken into custody about 4 p.m.
He will be transported to the Tennessee Valley Juvenile Detention Center in Tuscumbia, pending a hearing.
