Juvenile identified as suspect in vandalism at Noccalula Falls

A suspect in the vandalism of Noccalula Falls Park has been identified, authorities announced Friday.

Central Alabama Crime Stoppers officials said they received a number of tips, and one of those anonymous tips led to the identity of a juvenile suspect.

A petition has been signed against the suspect through juvenile court system. His or her name has not been released because of age.

The vandalism took place sometime between Saturday, April 15 and Saturday, April 22, according to Crime Stoppers. Investigators say multiple drawings and writing were located throughout the park.

“City officials take pride in Noccalula Falls Park, as it has been providing tourism and recreation to Alabamians since the 1950s,’’ the agency said in a press release. “In an effort to maintain the park’s beauty, officials are asking anyone with information regarding the recent vandalisms to please come forward.”

The City of Gadsden offered a $1,000 cash reward for information leading to the identification and arrest of the suspects. Central Alabama Crime Stoppers offered a $500 cash reward.
