The Philadelphia Eagles have signed wide receiver Julio Jones, the NFL team announced on Tuesday afternoon.

Jones had been unrestricted free agent since March 15.

A seven-time Pro Bowler and two-time first-team All-Pro after joining the Atlanta Falcons from Alabama as the sixth selection in the 2011 NFL Draft, Jones had the most receiving yards in the first nine seasons of a career in NFL history.

But in each of the past three seasons – one with the Falcons, one with the Tennessee Titans and one with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers – Jones has missed seven games because of hamstring issues.

In 2022, Jones had 24 receptions for 299 yards with two touchdowns in 10 regular-season games with the Buccaneers. In his last game with Tampa Bay, Jones had seven receptions for 74 yards and one touchdown in a 31-14 loss to the Dallas Cowboys in the NFC playoffs.

In 155 NFL regular-season games, Jones has 903 receptions for 13,629 yards and 63 touchdowns.

Jones joins the Eagles after Philadelphia placed wide receiver Quez Watkins on injured reserve on Friday because of a hamstring injury.

Watkins was an Alabama prep standout at Athens High School. Jones was Alabama’s Mr. Football in 2007 at Foley High School.

Philadelphia’s starting wide receivers are AJ Brown and DeVonta Smith, who also is an Alabama alumnus. Brown has 42 receptions for 672 yards and two touchdowns and Smith has 28 receptions for 334 yards and two touchdowns through six games this season. But the Eagles’ No. 3 wide receiver is now Olamide Zaccheaus, who had four receptions for 74 yards and one touchdown in 2023.

Coming off their first loss of the season, the Eagles will play the Miami Dolphins at 7:20 p.m. CDT Sunday at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia.
