Judge sets bond for suspected Gulf Shores shooter at nearly $1.1 million
A Baldwin County District judge set a nearly $1.1 million bond on Wednesday for the 21-year-old Fairhope man accused of firing a gun near a crowded area close to the Gulf Shores Public Beach on Monday.
Judge William Scully, during a video hearing, set bond for Rafiq Sh’mare Joel Bradley at $1 million for an attempted murder charge related to the shooting of a juvenile, who was later treated for injuries and released from a local hospital on Tuesday. The shooting occurred around 9 p.m. Monday following a fight between several people — all believed to be Baldwin County residents — on a sidewalk next to Gulf Place in the 100 block of Gulf Shores Parkway.
Bradley is also charged with firing into an occupied dwelling, disorderly conduct and reckless endangerment. Scully set additional bond amounts for those charges. Bradley’s total bond is $1,065,000. If bonded out, Bradley is required to remain under house arrest until his next court hearing.
Two other adults and one juvenile have been charged with disorderly conduct stemming from the altercation, according to Gulf Shores police. Their names have not been released.
A prosecutor with the Baldwin County District Attorney’s Office said that at least eight rounds were fired during the incident. The victim, according to a prosecutor, was fleeing Bradley at the time he was shot in the back. Cell phone and surveillance videos of the shooting are available, prosecutor said. The footage of the shooting has circulated through social media in recent days. Approximately 30 people were within the vicinity of the shooting.
