Josh Jacobs in ‘Top 100 Players,’ but not training camp

Running back Josh Jacobs is No. 12 in “The Top 100 Players of 2023,” but he isn’t in an NFL training camp for the 2023 season.

NFL Network continued to unveil its 13th annual poll of NFL players on Thursday with the No. 11 through No. 20 finishers in the voting for this year’s list of the best players in the league.

Another former Alabama standout appeared in the teens on Thursday with Pittsburgh Steelers safety Minkah Fitzpatrick at No. 18.

In his second Pro Bowl season, Jacobs led the NFL with 1,653 rushing yards and 2,053 yards from scrimmage for the Las Vegas Raiders in 2022.

The Raiders used their 2023 franchise tag to keep Jacobs from becoming a free agent in March but failed to reach a multi-year contract agreement with the running back by the deadline in July. Jacobs did not sign the franchise tender and has not reported to Las Vegas’ training camp.

For the third time in his five NFL seasons, Fitzpatrick was chosen as a Pro Bowler and a first-team All-Pro in 2022. Fitzpatrick tied for the NFL lead last season with six interceptions.

Jacobs and Fitzpatrick have appeared in three “Top 100 Players” polls apiece. Jacobs ranked 72nd in 2020 and 68th in 2021. Fitzpatrick ranked 35th in 2020 and 52nd in 2021.

The previous announcements of the poll results included Tennessee Titans running back Derrick Henry (Alabama) at No. 25, New York Jets defensive tackle Quinnen Williams (Wenonah, Alabama) at No. 40, Miami Dolphins wide receiver Jaylen Waddle (Alabama) at No. 44, Jets linebacker C.J. Mosley (Theodore, Alabama) at No. 46, Denver Broncos cornerback Patrick Surtain II (Alabama) at No. 49, Washington Commanders defensive tackle Jonathan Allen (Alabama) at No. 52, Dallas Cowboys cornerback Trevon Diggs (Alabama) at No. 60, Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa (Alabama) at No. 82, Cleveland Browns defensive end Za’Darius Smith (Greenville) at No. 84, Baltimore Ravens cornerback Marlon Humphrey (Hoover, Alabama) at No. 92 and Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver DeVonta Smith (Alabama) at No. 100.

The countdown of “The Top 100 NFL Players of 2023″ will conclude with the top 10 at 7 p.m. CDT Monday on NFL+.
