Johni Broome selected to USBWA All-District Team

Auburn sophomore forward Johni Broome got picked for the 2022-23 U.S. Basketball Writers Association (USBWA) Men’s All-District IV Team, according to Tuesday’s announcement by the organization.

Broome is averaging 14.0 points (14th in SEC), 8.4 rebounds (3rd in SEC), and nine double-doubles (3rd in SEC) this season. He made the All-Southeastern Conference Second Team along with Wendell Green.

Broome also ranks No. 11 nationally, averaging 2.3 blocks per game, and has scored double figures in 26-of-31 games played for the Tigers.

Broome is joined on the team by Colin Castleton of Florida, Kendric Davis of Memphis, Brandon Miller of Alabama, Liam Robbins of Vanderbilt, Tolu Smith of Mississippi State, Oscar Tshiebwe of Kentucky, Santiago Vescovi of Tennessee, Isaiah Wong of Miami (Fla.) and Zakai Zeigler of Tennessee.

The Plant City, Florida native is making his second appearance in the NCAA Tournament when Auburn plays Iowa on Thursday at Birmingham’s Legacy Arena. He faced West Virginia as a true freshman at Morehead State in the opening round of the 2021 tournament.
