Jimbo Fisherâs son Ethan commits to Samford: âI am extremely proudâ
Jimbo Fisher’s son is committed to Samford, and the Texas A&M coach couldn’t be prouder.
Ethan Fisher, a kicker, announced on social media Wednesday he is committed to play at Samford. Jimbo Fisher, who played quarterback at Samford in 1987, said he was excited for his son.
“I am extremely proud and very happy,” Fisher said during the SEC coaches teleconference Wednesday, per Saturday Down South. “There were some times (doctors were) not only saying he could never walk on a football field, but was he going to be here? … Very proud and love him so much.”
Ethan Fisher was diagnosed in 2011 at age 6 with Fanconi anemia, a rare blood disorder.
“Never would I ever have thought I would have this opportunity especially being told at a very young age by doctors that I may never see the field,” Ethan Fisher posted on “X,” the social media platform formerly known as Twitter. “Coming from a football family, I took that very personal and ever since then I’ve had to work and earn everything I have gotten.”
