Jim Boeheim is finalizing plans to work for ESPN and Westwood One this season
Syracuse, N.Y. — Jim Boeheim is finalizing plans to do television work for ESPN and radio work for Westwood One during the 2023-24 college basketball season.
Boeheim said last summer TV and radio work was likely in his future. Jon Rothstein cited unnamed sources today to report that Boeheim would work for ESPN and Westwood One. Boeheim confirmed it by telephone from Germany, where he and his wife Juli were visiting their eldest son, Jimmy.
“We’re finishing a deal with ESPN to do a limited number of studio appearances and games,” Boeheim said, “and I’m doing Westwood games at the end of the year, probably in the different tournaments.”
The Westwood radio deal, Boeheim said, would likely cover conference tournaments and the NCAA Tournament.
Boeheim said he believes the ESPN contract will involve about 15-20 appearances; half of them would be in studio and the other half would be live games. He said his work with Syracuse University — he is a special assistant to athletic director John Wildhack — will factor into the amount of games he’s able to do.
“I’m busy,” he said. “I like it.”
The Boeheims just arrived in Germany to visit Jimmy and to watch him play professional basketball. Jimmy Boeheim is playing for Tuebingen in the German pro league.
