Jets’ Quinnen Williams: âHe called me fat, broâ
In last week’s episode of “Hard Knocks,” New York Jets defensive tackle Quinnen Williams was having a blast counting up his sacks during joint practices with the Carolina Panthers.
In this week’s episode, Williams and the Jets were practicing with another NFL team again, but the former Alabama All-American wasn’t feeling as good about himself.

It all started with something Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Mike Evans said to Williams, which he shared with New York’s other defensive linemen during a break in practice.
“Mike Evans called me fat,” said Williams, who’s listed on the Jets’ roster as 6-foot-3 and 303 pounds. “He called me fat, bro — Mike Evans. Bro, I lost weight this offseason. Do I look fat? Now I’m self-conscious, bro.”
His teammates didn’t help much by describing Williams as “not skinny” and “thick.”
Williams finally asked: “Do I look good to be 300 pounds?”
He didn’t like teammate John Franklin-Myers’ assessment that he was “proportionate” any better than being called fat by Williams.
Later during practice (and the “Hard Knocks” episode), Williams told Evans he “was losing weight this whole offseason.”
“I said you’re rich,” Evans replied. “You’re rich and chubby.”
New episodes of “Hard Knocks: Training Camp with the New York Jets” will premiere at 9 p.m. on Tuesdays through Sept. 5 on HBO.
Tampa Bay defeated New York 13-6 in an NFL preseason game on Saturday night.
The Jets will complete their preseason schedule at 5 p.m. CDT Saturday when they square off against the New York Giants at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey. NFL Network will televise the game.
