‘Jeopardy!’ twice tested your Alabama knowledge this week: Do you know it?
We hope you remained calm before buzzing in to share the correct response for a clue about Alabama during Friday’s episode of “Jeopardy!” And how well do you know our landmarks?
The state often pops up in clues on the legendary quiz show, sometimes even twice in one episode. This was, well, sort of the case during the latest that mentioned one city by name and another mythological figure on display in one of our most populous cities.

The first clue came during the opening round.
The category: Around America
The clue (for $800): The address for the U.S. Space & Rocket Center in Huntsville is 1 [this] Base — 240,00 miles from another base of that name.
The correct response: What is tranquility?

OK, so what was the other Alabama-ish clue? It came during the “Double Jeopardy!” round.
The category: Myth Congeniality
The clue (for $2000!): Fish were thrown into a fire on August 23 during a festival honoring this Roman god of fire.
The correct response: Who is Vulcan?
Returning champion Stephen Webb, a data scientist from Longmont, Colo., provided the correct response, racking up two grand on his way to the overall win, putting him on a 3-game streak with a total cash prize of $80,631.
Dubbed “The Original Iron Man” on the official Vulcan Park website, “Vulcan, the Roman god of fire and forge, watches over all of Birmingham as a symbol of the city’s iron origins–and the ever-present spark of its indomitable spirit.” You can visit the landmark at 1701 Valley View Drive in Birmingham.
